If only I knew then what I know now...
I wouldn't have wasted so much money on stuff I barely used. And maybe I could have prevented all those adorable "must haves" for my baby from cluttering the garage in sometimes as little as a few months!

Furniture and bedding

I realized I have no posts on baby furniture or bedding. I really feel like all you need for a baby is a dresser and crib. Also I would recommend choosing a dresser that isn't too babyish so an older child could use it. Furniture is expensive and you don't want to constantly have to upgrade. I find changing tables useless. I always ended up changing my baby on a changing pad on the floor. Don't waste your money on something that can only be used short term.
For baby bedding, all you really need are a crib sheet and skirt. I use the skirt so I can store stuff under the crib and not have to see it. I don't believe that bumpers are recommended anymore and you don't really need a coordinating quilt because they end up being more decorative than useful (many are a bit bulky and you end up just swaddling your newborn in a receiving blanket or dressing your older baby in a blanket sleeper instead of actually using a blanket.)
Consider gender neutral crib bedding if you plan to have more than one child. I have an off white Classic Pooh set that works perfectly for a boy or girl. They'll only be in a crib for a 2-3 years.
